February 1, 2002
Hi DMB and Ants Marching Friends and Fans,
Ants Marching wishes a fond farewell to our sax player Brian Fort. We thank him for the hard work and enthusiasm he has exhibited over the last three years. Brian's last gig with us was on December 27, 2001 at Mulcahy's. Ants Marching wishes Brain Fort all the luck in his future endeavors both in the world of performing and in music education. On a personal note, I will forever hold fondly your friendship and I will surely miss the Mr. T. imitations.
While we're saying our goodbyes, Ants Marching would also like to wish a fond farewell to our bass player Patrick Cognitore. Patrick's last performance was at Big Boulder in the Pocono's on January 26, 2002. Patrick's wife got a great new job and they have moved. Ants Marching wishes both Patrick and his wife Paula much success and happiness. We thank Patrick for his tremendous work ethic, diligent professionalism, and rock solid, steady bass playing. Patrick was an asset to Ants Marching not only as a musician, but also with business and production. His professionalism and dedication will be missed.
Ants Marching has already begun rehearsing with our new band members.
Tom Brown will be performing on saxophone and flute. He subbed for Brian at The Headliner last December, and began his tenure as full time Ants Marching member on Friday, January 11, 2002 at The Tradewinds in Sea Bright, NJ. Tom is a phenomenal musician from Iowa, who is now living in Port Jefferson, Long Island, NY. He has a BM in Music performance. To give you guys an idea of his talent, Tom learned 25 DMB songs in four days to prepare for his gig with us at The Headliner last December. We are very excited and we welcome him to the band.
Mark Verdino will be performing on bass guitar. Mark is not only an outstanding six string electric bass player, but Mark also exhibits mastery in the jazz genre, playing upright bass. Mark graduated from the Crane School of Music with a BM in Music Education with a minor in Jazz. Mark is currently studying at the Manhattan School of Music for Jazz Music Performance, where he will earn his Master's Degree. We have had two rehearsals with Mark, and we're ready to perform live with the new lineup. Mark will make his Ants Marching debut on Friday, February 1 at The Conduit in Trenton, NJ. Mark Verdino, welcome to the band!
Ants Marching is very excited about the new members, and we know that with the new members, Ants Marching will be brought to a higher level of playing and professionalism. We hope you enjoy it!
Thank you, and we hope to see you soon when......Celebrate We Will!
